Getting ISO 14001 Certified- ISO 9001 Minneapolis MN-ISO PROS #23

Getting ISO 14001 Certified in Minneapolis, Minnesota (MN)

As businesses are growing increasingly mindful of their impact on the environment, they are trying to track and reduce their risks. They formalize this process by implementing an environmental management system according to ISO 14001 and gain responsibility for their behavior. For a company, the benefits ISO 14001 may be quite significant.

Organizations that have adopted a successful ISO 14001 EMS will directly benefit from:
  • Enhanced demand for their services and goods providing them with a competitive advantage;
  • Reduce running expenses by minimizing the usage of energy and disposing of waste;
  • Improve their performance in the environment, their impact on the atmosphere and track environmental risk;
  • Meeting its obligations on economic and foreign policy;
  • Meet the sustainable regulatory requirements;
  • Committing to their social responsibilities;
  • Promotion of a positive image among partners, customers and staff; and
  • Retaining environmental resources and maintaining effective communication.

Our team will probably recommend an audit pre-assessment to identify any gaps prior to a certification (registration) audit but this isn’t a requirement for certification. Places reported for improvement by the Auditors will be clear as we will only tell your company what is incorrect, and how to get it fixed. This additional work won’t be expensive too and will bring much value.

Have your EMS evaluated

In addition to continuous internal audits of EMS (required by ISO 14001), a “fair” review of the EMS is helpful to have. Most independent assessments can be conducted by a third party auditor or by some other qualified testing agency as part of the certification method. The benefit of impartial evaluations is that they would assess conformity with the EMS as well and consider “opportunities for improvement,” as it is, an unbiased set of eyes.

Continuous improvement

Continuous improvement is a critical component of the fundamental criteria for successful quality and the values of the environment and the climate. It recognizes increasing environmental achievement is not just a direction but a journey. It is not necessary for the company to develop and maintain the EMS, but it must track the progress of the EMS on an annual basis ( e.g. by management review meetings at all levels) and identify and implement system changes-with the ultimate culmination of sustainability design and development.

Keys for success

A prerequisite to a good ISO 14001 EMS is to have written protocols established and managed to explain environmental goals and their location across the organization in relation to all other operations. Implementation essential for ISO 14001 is alignment with the existing business processes generally defined in the framework of ISO 9001. ISO 14001 requirements allow sites to record and view their Environmental Agenda online. Thus recommendations must be established for a continuous study of the environmental impacts and the impact of products, processes, and services.

Instead, goals and objectives are identified on the basis of these environmental considerations and implications that are consistent with an environmental policy are implemented. As in a QMS, internal audits of the EMS should be conducted on a regular basis to guarantee the nonconformities in the network are identified and corrected. In fact, the management appraisal system needs to be in order to ensure that senior management engages in the EMS assessment.
